As you all may be aware of since the Aids epidemic in the early 80’s, Homosexuals have been ostracized, criticized and crucified, not just in the religious arena but also in the political arena.

Perhaps my views and/or understanding of life is little different than most people. But I believe not in the gay lifestyle or a straight lifestyle but a humanitarian lifestyle. I find myself often listening, reading and watching political debates as well as religious debates that have nothing to do with what is actually going on in the world today.

People often say and I find it to be true as a spiritual being that the Aids virus, the Ebola virus, as well as other unknown viruses were created by man and not God. I, as a Reverend and a Yoruba Priest have re-analyzed that God create both good and bad. If you read the understandings and the teachings of the Bible / the Koran / the Torah / the Hindu philosophies / the Buddhist philosophies / Taoism and other religious practices and faiths. You will come to believe and understand that God shines light on the just and on the unjust.

In our gay communities, there are many comments and criticisms about politics. But I say why complain if you yourself are not doing anything about it. We as a race, not a gay race; not a straight race; but a human race, have the knowledge, the power and capability to make a difference. I was often taught that our God, which goes by many names, is a loving and just God. So therefore it saddens me and it humiliates me how society and people can allow such blasphemy from any religion that criticizes and judges people for color, creed or even sexual preferences. There was a time in the past were genocide was so prevalent in many countries all in the name of God. I say shame on them who do not have an understanding of what God is really about and shame on us for allowing society to take it this far.

So my question to you is…Who is wrong? or better yet…Who is right?

Through my spiritual quests of enlightenment within the United States and out of the Country. I have found myself socializing with Muslims, Rabbis, Gurus, Priests, Ministers and Reverends. And I have come to the conclusion that there are many people including myself who feel that the biggest genocide is not the torturing and murdering of men, women, and children for both political and religious reasons but the abuse and the ignorance that Churches have towards homosexuals, transsexuals, transgenders as well as topics about abortion, same sex marriages and adoptions.

In my travels I found in this country political society and the religious society may feel that third world countries are poor and desolate but deserving of political and religious sanction. What we as a whole do not realize or realize or may not want to accept, is the fact that perhaps that this may be the richest country but yet why is there so much misery? I also find that in foreign countries, there may not be an abundance of food and wealth, but the one thing that people still hold on to is love for God, love for one another and love for humanity. It saddens me to know that in this country there is no true religious upbringing that is not tainted with religious or political BS. We find urselves in so much debt and so much destruction due to the endless desire for money and power.

I was often told by grandfather that you cannot worship two Gods. It’s either the God of mercy or the God of money. The Bible also states that Jesus said “Let what is of Caesar be of Caesar and what is of God let it be unto God.” So I say unto you, where does God play apart in this society and where does Caesar play in this society? For I feel that they are one in the same.

I pose to you this thought, we as humans have a right unto God and / or the Universe to learn to love one another. Through good and bad – through just and unjust until the day we die. My plea to you, not as a gay male, but as a human being, is that although society, religion and politics may discriminate against us and shun us that we don’t do it to each other.

Religious groups often say that we are at our final days. But I feel that they are in their final days. I ask you look around acknowledge that although there are many religious groups because of ignorance and political jargon, there are not as many worshipers as there once were.

So my advice to you all is to make you understand that God is not in control of this ignorance we are, because he gave us the ability to choose. Now I plead with you to be kind to one another, love one another and respect one another regardless of color, creed or race. Because God has given us that and that’s what will makes us different from those animals who judge.

Peace and Blessings,
Omifalade Osayecun
