ROD PATRICK RISBROOK (aka “BIG ROD”) is a CADD [Computer-Aided Drafting and Design] professional who designs/drafts engineering drawings as a consultant & spends the rest of his other time as a socio-political activist for the Black [same gender loving] community. As part of his socio-political agenda, ROD lent his humanitarian energies for 3+ years to the Black Men’s Xchange-New York [BMX-NY] which is a cultural affirmation and leadership empowerment collective for same gender loving men of African descent. Creatively, ROD captures still moments in time as a photographer, doing graphic design work, and is a producer at Brooklyn Cable Access Television [BCAT]. ROD is currently transitioning from CADD to filmmaker by pursuing a path as a cinematographer/filmmaker @ NYU in order to bring to life what he calls “our stories” that need to be told. | Hey Black Family, Just wanted to let everyone know that I saw Talk To Me starring the spectacular Don Cheadle last Friday evening. This moviewhich is aperiod piece that starts off in 1966 is truly inspirational and deserves our financial support. PLEASE go out and see this movie! The movie is damn FUNNY as hell and has remembrances (settings, music, clothes) of back in the day (60s and 70s) but also interweaves social and political commentary into the storyline in a seamless and clever way. |

| Don Cheadle is one of the most unrated actors working today and I believe he should be nominated for a Academy Award for Best Outstanding Actor. He really kicks ass in this movie with his acting as he always does including other incredible and memorable performances in movies such as Devil In Blue Dress (1995) (which is one of my all-time favorite movies co-starring Denzel Washington), Mission To Mars (2000), Hotel Rawanda (2004), Ticker (2002/BMW short film) and Traffic (2000). |

| And he'll most definitely kick some more ass playing the real life Haitian leader and revolutionary Toussaint Louverture (who kicked Napoleon's butt, by the way, lol!) in Danny Glover's upcoming movie Toussaint (2008?). The movie is currently in pre-production and has Angela Bassett (as Suzanne Louverture), Roger Guenveur Smith and Mos Def attached to this upcoming film. But definitely check out Talk To Me folks. Money on a movie ticket well spent. No joke! |
