Architecture of Africa at California African American Museum: On May 17, the Exposition Park facility debuts Lasting Foundations: The Art of Architecture in Africa, which will be on view through Aug. 5. Encompassing more than 60 works of art and 50 photographs, the show details the architecture of African homes, palaces and public places. Specifically, Lasting Foundations explores the symbolic significance of the painting and sculpture used to adorn buildings and celebrates architecture that is uniquely adapted to the landscape.
