Asheville’s second annual Pride Fest to take place October 13th, 2007 Noon-6PM, 10 Ridgelawn Road, Asheville NC 28806 (WNC Community Health Center)

For the second year in a row there will be a PRIDE Fest to celebrate the diversity and strength found in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender and queer (GLBTQ) community. This alcohol-free event will take place from Noon to 6PM, and is free and open to the public. “
“Everyone should come to this event. We have several straight supporters, such as PFLAG, who are working hard for gay-rights and who will be there sharing information, as well as our GLBTQ community. Anyone who just wants to connect, maybe hear and see some great performances, make a new friend or two, or get involved.” Quote from PRIDE Fest Coordinator, kali Brewster.
There will be a stage with performers and speakers, as well as information, food and vendor booths. There will also be an Affirmation of Love ceremony in the chapel at the event to celebrate the commitment people have made to their partners.
Performers include: Mexican Folkloric Ballet of Asheville, Julie Loyd, Asheville Capoeira, Ginny Wilder, Seth Boulton and the Dream Machine, Wild Bodema, and Corinne Oviedo, and Someone’s Sister.
Speakers include: Western NC Community Health Services, PFLAG, Ian Palmquist (Equality North Carolina), Elke Kennedy (Sean’s Last Wish Foundation), and Rich Hurley (Human Rights Campaign)
