I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard. You can go to any gay dance club or gay bar and find a lot of queens. I would imagine that Aretha would have had a nervous break-down and would have felt dis r-e-s-p-e-c-t-ed years ago.
I am in total agreement with Beyonce's father, Mr. Knowles who has been quoted as saying, "Something this ridiculous - it's childish, it's unprofessional." He continued to say, "And it's a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess."

Beyonce has a special kinship with Tina Turner, as when Ms. Turner was honored at the Kennedy Center Awards, it was Beyonce who sang and danced to "Proud Mary." She even mentioned that there are two "Tina's" in her life, her mother and Ms. Turner. So there's a connection, a history. Anyone who knows something about music would know that Tina Turner is the Queen of Rock and Roll. Whereas Ms. Franklin is the Queen of Soul.

It always saddens me that our white counterparts would not place much importance on the "man-made" titles. If it were Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler, both of the divas would have laughed it off. And the both would have done a photo-up. Perhaps Aretha's jealously goes beyond the titles, perhaps it's the youthfulness of Tina that bothered the Queen of Soul. Ms. Turner, could respectfully have been Beyonce's grandmother yet still can "shake a tail-feather." Whereas Ms. Franklin would only be able to shake a zip-loc bag with flour for some down home southern fried chicken.
Now dear readers don't get me wrong, I love Aretha Franklin, I have all of CDs, records and have seen her in concert through out the years, I even have an autograph copy of her bio., now back to Aretha, Tina and Beyonce at the Grammys.
Tina was dressed wonderfully, in pants, even though she's know for the best pair of legs of the century. Aretha reminded me of the Carol Burnett skit of "It Went With The Wind", when Carol's Red Butler said' " I love your dress" and she replied, "oh it was something that I saw in the window." In other words, Aretha's dress looked more like living room curtains.
Beyonce has become the new Queen of tomorrow, in that she's a positive reflection for our youth of color. For Aretha to say, "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway." This was tasteless, whereas in all fairness, Ree should be remained (Queen) "Mum."
