I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard.

In regard to Amy Winehouse: "I don't think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together. We have to stop rewarding bad behavior." quote Ms. Natalie Cole
"I'm sorry. I think the girl is talented, gifted, but it's not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too. She needs to get herself together." I mean, she could die. This isn't something that's cute and fun just to throw around in the press" continued Natalie Cole

"The girl really has a problem, and I think for those of us who have been in the business long enough, we know the sacrifice it takes. This is about discipline and hard work, and you don't get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded.", and finally the end of Ms. Cole's opinion.
It think amazes me, when Whitney Houston was going thru her situation, there was Nalatie Cole talking to the media and now Amy Winehouse has her demons to deal with and there is Natalie Cole again. When did Ms. Cole become the Dr. Phil of music and drugs? When she had her drug drama, everyone remained quiet in the industry. You didn't see Chaka, or any other recording diva giving their pearls of wisdom. And Natalie's fan base were prayerful and unconditional.
And who is she to say that Amy was not worthy of, lets count them, 1,2,3,4,5 grammys? What's happened to just wishing the up and coming young talent much success? In the first comment, she mentioned that it gives the young people a bad message but part of her Grammy success, when she recorded songs made famous by her father, Nat King Cole, was that she had been to hell and back. She had finally learned how to "straightened up and fly right." And the industry rewarded her not only for the quality of work but also on how she had finally learned to take control of her life.
In the second paragraph, she is quoted that the girl has talent. Well I guess it makes it a reality because she acknowledged it. Sorry Natalie, the academy also acknowledges record sells and fan base which brings the final total to, "The winner is Ms. Winehouse!" I guess since Ms. Cole is a former drug user, she has all the answers and she knows how long one should remain in "rehab", but Ms. Cole and I say, "no, no, no,", its not up to you. How dare she to point the finger, how dare she to so willingly step on someone else's toes, in regard to success. Natalie should have said, "no comment", or/and "I wish her love." Amy, not one time, said that she no longer had a drug problem. I believe that she wanted to prove to herself and the world that she has talent. An appearance on the Grammys is a big deal, and Amy didn't want to let that moment pass her by.
How many times have we seen performers on television, even Ms. Cole, with a drug problem? Did we punish that person? No, not really.
Ms. Cole mentioned sacrifice, discipline and time invested. Does she know anything about Ms. Winehouse? She has not traveled on the same road as Amy Winehouse. I would imagine that life is a lot easier when you, Natalie, claimed that you grew up like the black "Kennedy" family. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, even if the stones are for the rich and famous.
