I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard. 
Janet has always been accepted by the Gay community. Our black brothers love her, the gay brothers want to be her. She crosses race, greed, color, and at the same time remains true to herself. GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) will be honoring Ms. Jackson during its 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards celebration this coming Spring 08.
Interesting but I've never felt connected to GLAAD, but maybe it's just me. Perhaps I didn't see enough color in the mix. I'm not saying that everything has to be about color, however, it's the kind of world we live in. And when attending different gay gatherings or affairs, its always comfortable to see someone who looks like you. I'm not talking about the honorary token blacks of the evening. I'm guilty, there have been times when I've looked around and said to myself, "OMG, I'm the only one here of color!" I would like to believe that organizations such as GLAAD are making an attempt to create a real rainbow.

Janet Jackson's new release is scheduled for Feburary 26th, entitled "Discipline." Our lady has been through was difficult time in the past few years. The media was making a big deal out of seeing her breast. Give me a break, it was the most exciting thing during half time. It was interesting that Madonna could kiss Britney Spears and it wasn't a big deal, but Janet showed a little "tit" and it was discussed on every channel. In America you are always reminded of your skin color. Ok, I said it!
However, Janet is a survivor. Recently she starred in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married", and received an award for best actress from the NAACP.
We can't help but love Janet, no matter what she's in "control."
