I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard. All of the "Dreamgirls" fans, will need to sit down for this! As most of you original and new fans know that the original production played out of town, in Boston MA, before heading to Broadway in NYC, about 25 years ago. Well, the theatre lawyer and producer, John Breglio, who oversees the great estate of "Dreamsgirls", is planning a revival in South Korea. Yes, honey, you read it right, South Korea. This is the plan before heading back to Broadway.

This $10 million show should take place in the fall of this year. Now who's been cast as Effie White and the rest of the divas, who knows? For all we know it will probably recast some sistahs from South Korea. According to the New York Post article, Mr. Breglio has struck a deal with the Seoul Theater Association, which will present the show in South Korea and make a substantial investment, about $4 million - in Broadway production sources say. Now you may have noticed that I've mentioned South Korea more than a few times already. Mainly because I just can't believe it. Out of all places. Maybe they know something I don't know.
First of all, its too soon. And secondly, what could they add to this new production that hasn't been done with the originally Broadway cast and then many years later, the movie cast. My understanding is that they plan on adding the new songs that were heard in the movie. The Beyonce Knowles, song, "Listen" and, the Oscar Award Winner, Ms. Jennifer Hudson's, song " I Do Love You", will be added but who would dare to sing them?

Now back "Dreamsgirls" in South Korea........And the story line of Effie White would be further explained as in the movie, whereas on Broadway, wasn't. During the big production, where Effie sang that she had pain and the rest of the cast sang back, "We all have pain", only in the movie did you see that Effie was pregnant, which was a better story line.
The long and short of it, is that it's about making money and not about its greatest.
