San Francisco, California – July 7, 2008 – The five bachelors that will compete for this year’s America’s Gay Bachelor 2008 title were publicly announced today by the gay matchmaking site myPartner.com, the contest’s sponsor.
The five finalists were chosen from a pool of 51 contestants (one from each state and the nation‘s capital) by more than 35,000 votes cast online at myPartner.com. Each finalist is an eligible, single gay man that either originally hails from, or is currently living in the state he’ll be representing at the finale event. The five finalists are Mr. Montana, Mr. Ohio, Mr. Oregon, Mr. Rhode Island and Mr. Utah.
The finalists will appear in San Diego for final judging by a panel of celebrity judges at the contest’s star-studded finale held at W San Diego on July 17 during San Diego’s Gay Pride Week. The finalists will be joined by eligible bachelors from all over the country at W San Diego’s famed rooftop bar Beach to meet, mingle, and – just maybe – find the man of their dreams.
Logo, the lesbian & gay network from MTV Networks and the event’s presenting sponsor, will be on hand to cover the event. Celebrity judges will include David Bromstad, who was the inaugural winner of HGTV Design Star in 2007 and is now hosting his own HGTV design show “Color Splash”, Jesse Brune from the hot Bravo show “Work Out”, and Patrick H. Perrine, the Founder and CEO of myPartner.com.
The sunset soirée will have guests grooving to tunes by Argentina-born DJ De Leon, sipping signature myPartner cocktails hosted by Effen Vodka and savoring bites by W’s upscale restaurant RICE. Bloomingdale’s will style the bachelors for their runway debut and San Diego favorite Leonard Simpson “The Style Guy” will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the event.
“More and more gay men are looking for someone who’s marriage material,” says Perrine,. “We’re here to debunk the myth that gay men aren’t interested in finding lasting relationships, especially as states across the country begin to move towards legalizing gay marriage,” says Perrine.
The five finalists are showcased on the myPartner.com website at Americas Gay Bachelor. The America's Gay Bachelor 2008 contest winner will receive a romantic get-a-way trip for two at the W San Diego, a $25,000 Private Matchmaking Package, a trip to San Diego Gay Pride week, and a chance to be featured in a national publication.
“The finale event is a great way for us to show everyone how our matchmaking system works, and have a little fun at the same time,” says Perrine. “Everyone comes to the party single, but we like to think that not everyone will leave that way."
