I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard.

And you woke me up for that?

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

Anyone who knows me, should know that I'm a late sleeper. I go to bed late, sometimes at 3:30 am, and I wake up late, just in time for lunch or a late lunch. So the other morning, before 9:00 am, my telephone rang. The person on the other end, was excited about Ellen becoming the new Cover Girl. I had to look at my phone twice. Ellen? Cover Girl? And this is important to me because? Also the fact that this was old news. I believe this was announced in the early summer.

I was excited about it when Queen Latifah was named the new Cover Girl. There was because she was so opposite as she's not pencil thin and not a white lady. But I still didn't feel the need to write about it. I thought that perhaps one of my sisters might write a line or two for GBMNews.com.

Now after my morning or should I say, afternoon coffee, I thought about it, and realized that this information about Ellen could be important to someone. Ellen is the first gay/lesbian to become Cover Girls "it girl." Perhaps we have readers who will read the article and say to herself, "If Ellen can do it, so can I!"

Ellen has done it all, as she's an actress, comic, writer, has her own show and is one of the first celebrity's in California to marry her own sex. Ellen has also survived some troubled times, like when television land cancelled her show because she decided to "come out" about her sexuality. As Ellen's light continues to shine, it shows America and the world that you can be normal and be lesbian. Cover Girl's also telling the world that you can be lesbian and still appear feminine. Lesbians like make-up too.

So I take my hat off to Ms. Ellen DeGeneres and wish her continued success. As for calling me early in the a.m., don't do it. The person answering the phone wont be as sweet as I am. (smile)
