I would like to believe that I'm a student & teacher of life. At the beginning of 2007, I relocated from NYC to Charlotte, NC. I've written 4 books of poetry and have just completed my 1st novel. I would like to believe that my life experience may be able to educate others by seeing the world thru my eyes. There's always a point of view, & I'd like to add my flavor. I'm an extremely private person, however, I believe that I can speak for the voices that need to be heard.

I'm dating myself, as the other day, I will doing some early spring cleaning when I came across an album that I purchased, recorded by the fierce beautiful brown aka Ms. Bubblin' Brown Sugar legend Ms. Vivian Reed. In 1978, I remember seeing Ms. Reed on television and decided to get a copy of "Brown Sugar", the album. My favorite on this record is Dee Dee Warwick's, "Yours Until Tomorrow" and "Hello, It's So Nice To Make It Again", written by Ms. Vivian Reed, herself.

Unfortunately her recording career didn't take off as I think her vocals, even though extremely soulful, is better performed live than on record and extremely Broadway and cabaret. Ms. Reed, not a success on record but definitely a hit on Broadway.
In the play, "Bubblin Brown Sugar" she played the character, Queenie. This play allowed her to travel all over the world. Her bio states that the performances have earned her Tony nominations, the Drama Desk Award (outer circle critics award), the NAACP award, she won a Tony award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club.

In her youth, she attended the Pittsburgh Musical Institute , graduated and attended at Julliard School of Music and also studied dancing.

Ms. Vivian Reed has a huge voice, but what I found interesting is that she's a wonderful storyteller. On YouTube she tells a transportation story. You must check it out. And as for ageless, this lady is still so beautiful, but you know black don't crack.

According to her bio, after Broadway Ms. V. went to Los Angeles to open "Bubblin Brown", then to Europe where she was acclaimed the new Ms. Josephine Baker. The Diva lives in NYC. If she comes to your part of the world, you better check her out. She sings, dances and has a story to tell. We, as people of color have a rich fountain in our culture, we need to tap into it. Even today, Ms. Vivian Reed continues to travel around the world sharing her gift of song and entertainment. If she comes to your part of the world, check her out. Nobody does it matter.
