Rhea Lewis
Rhea Lewis was born in Hartford, Ct and now currently resides in Atlanta, Ga. She is an author, poet, and freelance writer. She has performed locally at Java Monkey and Urban Grind CoffeHouse and other poetry venues around town. In 2007, Rae was a participant of the ACLU Regional Poetry Slam.
She is currently pursuing her goal of becoming a full-time writer. Her first collection of poetry 721 seconds II breathe is to be released June 2009.
Film Review: American Violet
Atlanta
American Violet, based on a true story, exploits the harsh relationship of judicial corruption and the loud silence of racial tension. Dee Roberts wrongfully accused of narcotic distribution within a school zone, shares a remarkable story of courage as a single mother breaks the censorship of justice when given the options of forfeiting her freedom or accepting a plea as a felon.

| Celebrate Diversity through the Arts, an artistic collaborative project with local organizations as the Atlanta Symphony, 14th Street Playhouse, and High Museum, hosts various events around the city. | ||
| Celebrate Diversity through the Arts held the private screening of The Urban Film Review, a monthly screening of urban independent filmmakers of African- , Latino- , and Asian American descent. American Violet will be released in theatres April 17th.
David Manuel, Sr. Director of Programming shared his excitement with a joyous crowd Monday night at the success of Celebrate Diversity through the Arts, co-sponsored by Turner Broadcasting and the Woodruff Arts Center. The screening was held at the Woodruff Arts Center Monday March 23. The next film screening, All about Us will be held on April 27th starring Boris Kodjoe and Raven Goodwin. | ||
