Whether we are exploring auto-eroticism, hetero-eroticism, or homo-eroticism, we must begin to embrace the function of sacred space in sexuality. It is impossible to do this without embracing a personal inward journey. One must learn how to approach the Divine presence within with all its wonder and beauty. As that journey takes place the journey of union with another may be an appropriate adjunct – through sexual union.

One must first slow down and get quiet and be willing to hear the voice of Spirit within. As we become more open to the voice of Spirit within, we “show up” emotionally – to our self and to other people. As we are able to share more of our truth with our self, we are able to share more of who we truly are with other people. Meaningful sexual union can be a powerful vehicle for “unmasked” sharing of the true self.  Because our personal truth is complex and well hidden, it is very unlikely that it can be shared through a one-time sexual encounter. Repeated occasions with the same person are likely to yield deeper and deeper levels of truth sharing and openness.

All of our pain, struggle, masking, incongruity, dishonesty and other frictions occur at ego level. At Spirit level truth is known. In the sacred sexual encounter a transformation occurs from the ego level to the spiritual level and new creation is born.
