If you ever given the chance to see a career coach go and hop to it! If anything it can be a rewarding experience. Often, we’re told to go to school, get a major and get a job. Following the conventional way, I’m under the impression that formal education is not for everyone, keeping in mind certain fields require it. However, people do well with little or no formal training. Trade school or technical school may work well for some individuals.
Notwithstanding, I went to a career coach. It’s a known fact that the average person change jobs at least five times, in their career and stay no more than 2 years on the job. The career coach was an older woman, very pretty and African American, short in statue and very nice and professional. I’ll just give you a brief summary of the outcome.
Stay focus
Keep a well prepared resume
I want to own a business, so she gave me some contacts and then I was told to focus on the bottom line and location. I was put on a time table with specific target dates. She stated that I needed a business plan and I need to have it ready by the fall of this year. But the main thing for me was to focus, focus, focus, which is something that I have trouble with at times.
In all the travesties in life, we all have a moment where we need a little coaching or push if you will. There comes a time when we spin our wheels and nothing especially around our career lives happens.
So, don’t be afraid to take that next step. Go get coached into that career you will love.
