Gay family cruise cancels Bermuda stop after protests from local churches.Rosie O’Donnell’s Gay Family Cruise has dropped the Bermuda stop from its July itinerary. The reason for cancellation is to avoid confrontation with possible protestors from Bermuda’s churches. United By Faith, an interfaith organization of churches on the island, is calling the decision “a victory for God”.
Some see it, however, as a complete defeat for Bermuda’s Department of Tourism. Others view this as a “slap in the face” to all human rights. Former Tourism Minister, Renee Webb, sees the incident as “a victory for ignorance using the name of God”.

As much as I loved my Dad, I would have been very uncomfortable discussing my sex life with him. We didn’t have to have that conversation, but I have no doubts that he knew. The main reason I know he knew is by the way he treated and accepted my lover of twenty-five years. During those years, Fred Lowe was embraced as part of theEdmonds family. He and I were included at every family gathering right along with my brother and his wife. Plus, Daddy and Mama were guests at our home in Nashville many times. We were even referred to as a unit – J.B. (my nickname) and Fred or Fred and J.B. That’s just the way it was: no questions asked. We never had to experience that dreaded and agonizing ordeal of explaining why we weren’t married or why we didn’t have girlfriends.
