Rapper Soulja Boy is facing a charge of obstruction of justice after fleeing the set of his new music video when police arrived.

The Crank That (Soulja Boy) hitmaker was shooting the video at a Georgia house on Wednesday with a cast and crew of 40 people - including fans he had invited to take part - when local authorities arrived at the scene to investigate complaints from residents.

According to police, half of the group fled by foot, including the 19-year-old rapper. Soulja Boy later returned to pick up his Range Rover and was arrested for the misdemeanor.

The rapper, real name DeAndre Ramone Way, was bonded out of the Henry County jail on Thursday; however police are still investigating persons related to the shoot.

According to TMZ.com, officers found a 9mm handgun in one of the cars in the driveway of the house but have not identified its owner.

Another man was arrested during the incident for forgery, amid suspicion he had counterfeited eight $100 bills.

"Not guilty", so said Chris Brown at the hearing for the alleged beating on his girlfriend or former girlfriend, Rihanna. Her dad, Mr. Fenty, was not pleased. "I don't want his career to be damaged -- it's damaged already. I think he's a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay. When you do the crime, you do the time. I don't want to see him locked up for a long time -- I just want him to acknowledge and get some help," Mr. Fenty was quoted as saying after Mr. Brown's plead.

On the Tyra Banks show this coming Monday, April 13th, the talk show host discussed the Chris Brown/Rihanna case, where the young girls in the audience feel that Rihanna is the guilty one and it was split 50/50.
Mr. Fenty wants Chris to know that he's not getting away with it. Our society, without letting the facts come to life, still believe that a man should not hit a woman but many, it appears really could care less if a woman hit's a man. Again, I believe that no one should be allowed to hit and if Rihanna hit Chris first, then she is as guilty as he is, if its found this is the case.

Now I may get letters cursing me out but whatever, no one should be allowed to hit, regardless of the sex, gender or race.

    P. Diddy And The Brown Paper Bag Test

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

A casting call was sent out as Mr. P. Diddy will be shooting a new commercial for his vodka. The troubling thing about this shooting is that Mr. Diddy, has informed his staff who are doing the search, orders are that the female must pass the "paper bag test". If other words, if you are darken than a brown paper bag, don't apply.

Yep, you read right, if you (ladies) are darken than a brown paper bag, keep on walking, you are not the right look for his vodka commercial.

I would hate to think that the Mr. Diddy has self-hatred against his darker than a brown paper bag skin color. Hopefully this is just a silly "chit chat " rumor. Stay tuned.

New Rap Group, GS Boyz & "Stanky Legg"

By Sr. Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

One thing, among many, that can be said about rapper, Soulja Boy, is that he's originally. Now we have a new rap group called "GS Boyz", who are trying to ride on the coattails of Soulja Boy.

The group have created a new dance, which isn't really all that new or unique. Soulja Boy showed us how to do the "Superman", whereas GS Boyz' dance isn't a hard dance to learn since you are stepping back and forth, shaking the booty, doing some "jumping jacks" then you're wiggling down to the floor and this is the "Stanky Legg."

The music isn't all that either. Computerized music, baggy clothes (according to the fashion magazines, the baggy look is so last year's look), fireworks and words, "Stanky Legg" roll across the screen in bright block letters in the video. Cheap but it will probably make a lot of money.

Will it sell? Probably since some of today's youth are more into the beats of a song, than the talent. On their my space page, profile views are 685727 and counting. I'm sure I've stepped on a toe or two.

Interested anyway? Check them out, you will be able to hear them sing too: MySpace/GSBoyz

    INTRODUCING RECORDING ARTIST, "THE DREAM"

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

I was doing some research on another artist and fell into this new, exciting, talented recording artist, called "The Dream". Vocally the brother can sing! The lyrics and the music are current with a touch of yesterday, yet pressing on into the future. On the CD of 14 original songs, Mariah Carey is featured on "My Love" and Kanye West on my personal favorite, "Walkin On The Moon", however every song promises to be #1 (not that I like every song but) and I can see next year's Grammy's will definitely find its way to "The Dream".

Refreshing is that this artist is able to express himself without the cussing, and calling our women of color the "B" word. By the way, "The Dream", his born name is Terius Youngdell Nash and he's a Grammy Award winner-singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and music executive.

"The Dream" was born in Rockingham, North Carolina and moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of two. Sadly his mother passed away at the young age of 35 and he was raised by his grandfather in the Bankhead section of Atlanta, GA. His granddad's appreciation for soul music educated a very young Terius.

What I found interesting and impressed me about "The Dream" is that he also plays trumpet, drums and guitar. According to his bio: Musical influences are Prince, Miss Elliott, Tupac Shakur and Aaliyah. Now get this, he's also an accomplished artist who has created paintings, sculptures, his work has been shown in art galleries throughout Atlanta.

Artists and Producers "The Dream" has or is working with:

Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Sting, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Usher, Nicole (PCD), Karina Pasian, Nivea, Lucy Walsh, Brit & Alex, Bayje, Timberland, Tricky, Stewart, Don Vito, Jazzy Pha

"The Dream" also had an issue with the now famous Chris Brown (and Rihanna) But you can google that if you are interested. In the meantime, if you are in the mood to listen to a brother who has real talent, check out "The Dream" at: The Dream Team

FEND BETWEEN BOW WOW & SOULJA BOY?

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

The all grown up and handsome, with movie stars looks, rapper Bow Wow apologized to his fans and to Soulja Boy. The fend started when Soulja Boy, on YouTube, questioned Bow Wow's "street credit".

Fortunately the two young rappers realized that the fend was senseless and immature. When Bow Wow, appeared on BET's 106 & Park, he again, apologized to his fans as he said, the argument was a friendly challenge that got out of control.

Bow Wow continued, "For us to even do that for the kids and for the people that look up to us, it was just really out of my character and out of his character for us to just display that ignorance like that. I've been put on this earth to entertain my people; to make them scream and holler and not display BS (bulls**t). That's my homie. He's getting money with me, so for that I can't knock him."
It's interesting that only a few months ago, both Bow Wow and Soulja Boy had and have many wondering if the two are bi-sexual, gay or metro-sexual.
Also there's the porn photo that's suppose to be Soulja Boy, where it appears that he's receiving oral services from someone of the same sex. Some of the gay fans are excited about the possibility of Soulja Boy being gay or bi, while others, "straight", are disturbed and in an uproar that we would even print such a story. Bow Wow carrying the man-purse have many readers upset about this, as his sexuality was questioned.

But when you become a celebrity, the rumors start, even the artist management company of the artist may put out a rumor. Speculation and mystery are some of the tricks to packaging a superstar. Also the rules about sexuality and drugs are different for an entertainer as well. Sexual acts, depending on the encounter, are sometimes described "freaky", breaking all the rules.

Now we have Bow Wow and Soulja Boy making up and being nice. Both are sexy, handsome, successful and respected. What's the real story behind this feud? Does anyone know?

I just happen to be in my brother-in-law's, Shawn's red truck listening to the radio, waiting as he ran into one of the department stores to make a purchase. As I continued to listen to the radio, Faheem Rasheed Najm, better known as T-Pain's music was played. Now before his fans attack me, I'm aware of his music and I know that he's a successful rapper, songwriter, producer and extremely respected in the music industry. But can he really sings?

Later that evening, on MTV-2. The "Storyteller Series", focused the show on Kanye West. Again this brother is well respected and has shown another side to Hip Hop and Rap music. He has shown the world that "hip-hop" is more than gangsters, thugs, cursing, bitches and whores. As I sat, listened and watched, it just confirmed what I thought all along, that with good business sense, some talent, a look, the public can be sold anything, we are purchasing music with lyrics, great music beats, rapping and pretend singers.

Mr. West as well as Mr. Pain are partners with the "Auto-Tune". Case and point, when Kanye performed on "Saturday Night" live, there was something wrong with his "Auto Tune" and the brother had to sing. It wasn't a very nice sound. Without the Auto-Tune" you discovered the true voice. Simon on "American Idol" would claim that it's the worse sound he has every heard.

Yeah, I know they both have won "Grammy's" for "Good Life", however, sound and appreciation to and what's considered music has changed. Yet, without the "Auto-Tune", Mr. Pain would cause pain vocally and Kanye West has already proven that he can rap but as a singer, nah, I think so. And no, I haven't forgotten Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, who topped Billboard and broke all kind of records, but is it talent, timing, promotion or the "Auto-Tune?" A lot of performers are using this equipment, which guarantees an almost perfect pitch performance. Cher used this equipment on the "Believe" recording.

I think that the "Auto-Tune" inventor should win a few Grammys too.

Are you feeling me? Do you disagree? Express yourself, let your voice be heard, let me know.

    Will Smith and T.I. Buddies?

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

If you've been following the news in Rap Music, you probably already know that T.I. will soon be in the Big House. He pleaded guilty to weapons possession. Since this time, he has been on every talk show like Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen and Jay Leno's Tonight Show.

The interesting thing is that T.I. is a likeable personality. He's nothing like what you may have thought, perhaps he's thuggish when it's needed. On the "shows" he was total a class act, funny and down to earth.

Rumor has it that T.I. had a few questions in regard to his MTV series, "T.I. Road to Redemption: 45 Days To Go, he got together with "good image", mega superstar Will Smith. Whatever the issues T.I. may have had, were not released as the two superstars bonded as brothers in black and Will is a great example on how to handle success.

Who knows maybe once T.I. is released from jail, he and Will may do a movie together. T.I. does have movie star, handsome, sexy looks. For now, we will have to wait and see.

Give to the Griot the Honor Due His Name

Tim'm West continues to inspire, provoke, nourish and stun.

    Reviewed by David Jones

    "In Security: The Golden Error"
    Tim'm West

Over the MLK weekend, Tim'm T. West, celebrated author, poet and lecturer, added his own shout to the historic echoes reverberating around Washington DC with his new CD In Security: The Golden Error. Any follower of West is irretrievably spoiled; the mere presence of his name in any of his chosen media guarantees works of surpassing excellence and thunderous artistic weight. Although Mr. West's talent is nothing new to me, I was truly caught by surprise.

I have never heard a CD with such an astonishing opening sequence of music. Against the Grain, Walking Contradiction, Hit Song and Stutter contain more lyrical beauty in four songs than most so-called rappers manage to cram in an entire album.

There are other gems; F Word is his answer to all the proud queens wondering if there is a place for them in the struggle. The broad content of his artistic self education allows him to avoid the musical myopia of most rappers and instead of the same tired samples we hear in every other hit rap/r&b song, the ear is teased with ravishing melodies.

One of the reasons West's work is so compelling is that he actually possesses a voice. In the rap field, where raspy, raggedy cat-like yowling and low-pitched dog growls pass for street cred, West's silken, manly baritone, perfectly projected, effortlessly produced, dripping both testosterone and a plaintive, bluesy vulnerability, is balm for sore ears.

His Arkansas roots are evident in the floating, precise slowness of his delivery; he is out to be understood, not show off how fast he can spit out words. If he ever decided to quit the rap game and go into journalism, his warm, powerful, fatherly speaking tones would revive the title "the voice of God". Then there is his singing. As we say in the church, the man can sang. His sharp ear creates mahogany quartet chord backgrounds for his razor sharp lyrics to bounce off of and the effect is entrancing.

He has at his command the traditional colors in the rapper's arsenal, anger, defiance, a pugnacious audacity, but I was delighted to hear, especially in the tracks You Tell Me and Old School a quality hip-hop abandoned long ago: unalloyed, almost child-like joy, a flow and melody that create a silvery "let's dance tonight" atmosphere. I mean really, when is the last time hip hop made you smile? Do I love this album? Hell Yeah. In the words of the interviewer in the first track, Get Into It Honey!

Rapper DXM is preparing to rap to a different tune when he gets out of the big house. During an interview with John Hooks from FOX 10, Earl Simmons aka DMX spoke from the County Jail named Maricopa in Arizona. To his credit he's one of the most successful rap artist who's sold over 28 million records. His message in song has been as he said in his interview, its for the fallen (straight) brother. On every CD he ends it with a message about God and a prayer.

But what DMX found most disrespectful is the fact that he and the other inmates, are forced to wear the color pink. The reason being is that when the inmates were allowed to wear the white outfit, inmates stole them. Now since the uniforms are the color pink, needless to say, no more were stolen.
When DXM first arrived in Arizona, he loved it. He mentioned that he loved the sunset and decided to buy a house. What's interesting is that during the interview he did not say why he was arrested and would not answer the question when asked. The time to be served is 90 days. Court records show that he entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of "cruelty to animals and drugs". Michael Vick and now DMX, what's up with the straight brothers and infliction of pain to animals (dogs)?

Once he's released he states that he's leaving Arizona to never return. Not even for a concert. He blames the "devil" for this arrestment and believes that he's suppose to experience this episode in his life. But he's moving full speed ahead, as he's going to answer his true calling in life and become a minister. At present, he's going to re-start a television (reality) show while he's in jail. He has also completed a gospel CD, that he's enthusiastic about and can't wait to release, "The Gospel According to X".

I'm really not a fan of the hip-hop world. Now if you mention disco music and I'm right there. So I do understand that perhaps it's a generation gap. However, I do find it interesting watching Kings and Queens of Hip-Hop as most of them are ghetto fabulous and lead the glamorous life.

Now with the release of the Biggie Movie, "Notorious" the drama continues. It's no secret that Lil Kim is not happy about her portrayal. Lil Kim aka Queen Bee has blamed Hip-Hop singer, Faith Evans and Mrs. Wallace, Biggie's mom.

The interesting thing is that Lil Kim has not seen the movie.

Rumors had it that while Faith was married to Biggie, a relationship was started between Lil Kim and Biggie.

Sources say, that Queen Bee was the other woman. I would imagine this is something that Lil Kim believes could show her in a bad light.

When Faith was interviewed, she explained that she was not a part of this project, and stands by the comments in her own autography "Keeping The Faith." While Lil Kim, was quoted as saying, "I've had enough and I'm about to expose them both. ... I've been quiet for a long time". "I'm very disappointed in Faith. There's nothing Faith or Ms. Wallace could do to stop me from reppin' B.I.G. all day. I'm gonna always do that.... It's time for Ms. Wallace to be exposed. "I was not involved in the movie," she continued. "[The filmmakers] never came and asked me anything about Biggie, but again, this was Faith and Ms. Wallace's movie."

I haven't seen the movie and will probably see it on cable when there's nothing else to watch, as I'm sure it will be entertaining. The movie is based on biography, "Unbelievable : The Life, Death and Afterlight of Notorious B.I.G." written by Cheo Hedari Coker.

Well dear readers, in the meantime, I'm sure this isn't over. Lets just sit back and wait.

When Kanye was interviewed by Vibe magazine, he told them, "I made a decision. I wanna make popular music, but I want less fans," he said when questioned about being comfortable with fame. "I want the freedom of having less fans. It's like the freedom of having less money. If you have less money, you have less responsibility. It's like Björk. If she wanted to pose naked, you'd be like, 'Oh, that's Björk.' But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it. I definitely feel like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I'll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture."

Instead of having 100,000 in the audience he would feel more comfortable with 20,000. He also stated, "I believe I am the greatest entertainer of this generation. I go neck-and-neck on Jay Z and Lil Wayne as far as who's the best lyricist. Jay-Z has longevity." Talk about an ego.

If Kanye gets his wish of having less of a crowd, he just might get it. And the nude thing, he's a slim brother but not a sex symbol. I'm not sure he would create the interest in viewing him naked. I'm sure if you said L.L Cool J, that would be a blockbuster.

Now his comment on Beyonce and Jay Z, the power couple, yes Ms. B. is the Diana Ross of this generation. With that kind of fame comes the negative as well as the positive but why do our people have to compare themselves to each other. Maybe its to generate more interest. It gets old after a while. If Kanye wants to shock the media, he should declare that (if it's true) he's gay. Now that would make him legend.

    Universal Mind Control Common
    Geffen Records

Universal Mind Control is the new release from the smooth and stylish rapper with that sophisticated Chicago style. Common is aggressive but not scary with the messages and stories he rhymes for us. There is not a need to prove his masculinity or that he may be hood enough to stand firmly in the Hip Hop world.

There should be a bronze or even stone statue of this man placed where African American men frequent most, so there is a constant reminder of what a real man is supposed to look like. This collaboration with Pharell (N.E.R.D.) overhauls what we know of Hip Hop.

The recurring 80's rhythms and synthesizers in "Universal Mind Control," work so well with the educational and non-threatening rhymes that they begin to oil the gears of the brain enough to promote considerable thought. Don't think that Common is too stuffy to get down, because Universal Mind Control is designed to move both body and mind as in the duet with Cee-Lo (Goodie Mob and Gnarles Barkley).

Common's food for thought in "Changes," will not leave you bloated or heavy, but lifted and empowered. This mature style of Hip Hop is not new to the scene since we have heard this type of poetic guidance from past leaders of verse like KRS-One and Chuck-D (to name a few). It is nice to see the torch carried on and that Common is staying true to himself in the process. This is CD is fun and one you can play to get you started on a road trip, alone or with a few extra passengers.

Kanye West Sued by Suge Knight

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

You have to wonder if some of the celebrities create drama, just to stay in the magazines and newspapers. I've heard that the spot light can become very addicting like a drug.

Suge is suing Kanye over diamond earrings. Supposedly Kanye had a party three years ago, and at Kayne's party. Suge claims that he was shot and then robbed of his diamond earrings. The 15 carat diamonds are said to have cost $135,000. Suge thinks that Kanye should have had been security.

Suge, former Record Executive, has filed bankruptcy. Now get this, he's suing "for damages for the loss of use and enjoyment of the earrings." I guess diamonds are a girls best, I mean boys best friend too.

I would have imagined that earrings that cost $135,000., you would get insurance for immediately, quick.

So Suge was robbed and lost the enjoyment of his earrings and believes that Kanye should foot the bill. If he wins this case, then anyone who's been robbed in the street, in an apartment etc., will be suing the cities that they live in, or the school that he or she attends, or the subway/train ride, any place in the USA that one might be robbed, we are all suppose to be protected by law enforcements.

If Suge wins this case, he's allowed to keep the money as he worked out a deal with the courts. Something ain't right here. But as you know the rules are different for the rich and famous.

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

For those of you who don't know, I interviewed this up and coming star of tomorrow, Phylle in May 2008. His sound is fresh, as it's a blend of Philadelphia, PA and Atlanta GA. He's focused. He knows what he's wants. Music is his lady. And now added to his resume is that he's exploring acting.

Phylle: Actually, I got a good response. Everyone said it was a really good article, and they like the fact that you coordinated the pictures with the article.

John: After you read your interview, did you discover anything new about yourself?

Phylle: (Laughing) No, not really. I know myself pretty well.

John: Within the last year, do you feel that you've grown as an artist?

Phylle: Yes, definitely, I've grown as artist, as far as musically and vocally, I think its important to work on your craft constantly.

John: What new music projects are you involved in at the moment?

He explained that he's working on the re-mix of his first project which will have a little more hip-hop. He's also going to have some additional new songs. It will be something new and at the same time have the same feel, have his style.

Shakir Stewart, the Executive Vice-President of the New York City-based Def Jam Recordings, was found dead Saturday (November 1) with a gun shot to the head, the company confirmed today in a statement.

According to Def Jam, Stewart who replaced Jay-Z at the helm of the label died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and his body was found in Atlanta.

No further details on Stewart’s passing are available.

“LA Reid and all of us at Island Def Jam Music Group are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague Shakir Stewart,” Def Jam said in a statement. “Shakir was an amazing man, in every sense of the word. A truly incredible friend and father who was an inspiration to not only our artists and employees, but to his family and the many people who had the privilege of counting him as a friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time.”

Stewart, a native of Oakland, CA, was appointed executive vice president on June 3, where he reported directly to his mentor, Island Def Jam’s chairman, Antonio “L.A.” Reid. The 38-year old Jay-Z, whose actual name is Shawn Carter, was president of Def Jam Records, a label promoting rap music, for a number of years until he stepped down from that role in December 2007.

Before becoming VP of Def Jam, Stewart was the VP of A&R at Def Jam since 2004 and worked with big name acts such as Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and Karina Pasian whom he brought on to the label.

Stewart graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing. Before joining Def Jam in 2004, Stewart was a successful music publisher at Hitco publishing where he signed Ciara and Beyonce. In 1999, he was hired as the Senior Vice President and General Manager at Reid’s publishing company, Hitco.

“The bold young management style that Shakir has established at Def Jam is one of the major reasons behind the label’s success today,” the Island Def Jam (IDJ) Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid said of Stewart in June.

Founded by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin in March of 1984, the Def Jam is the United States based hip-hop record label, which is owned by Universal Music Group, and operates as a part of The Island Def Jam Music Group.

"Keeping It Real." RAP SUPERSTAR T.I.

    By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

Southern born rapper, who's been called the Jay Z of south is keeping it real as he prepares for his 1 year and half stay in the big house.

Born, Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., has been making the rounds on television. A few weeks ago, he was on the "View", where he spoke about the reason for his arrest in 2007, where he had 3 unregistered machine guns and 2 silencers. This was 4 hours before the BET awards. On the "View" he explained that he was in fear of his life. The Bette Midler wanna be, Joy Behar, tried to make it seem like it was gang-related but T.I. corrected her quickly and kept it moving as he continued to speak to Whoopie.

The wonderful thing about watching him speak, he speaks proudly, strong, and full of wisdom. I became a fan. He's a smart brother. I loved the way he handled himself. He's a class act. In his way he's changing the image of rappers being only thugs and from the streets. He's done a few movies and he's comfortable being a maga rap star.

On Jimmy Kimmel, again, he spoke about the jail-stay that will happen around March 2009. In his conversation he said that he realizes that carrying the guns around was not his smartest hour.

He did the crime and he's ready to do the time. His latest CD, "Paper Trail" is moving up the charts with his single, "Whatever You Like." With the right marketing, he will be released, hopefully sooner than later and will receive a few "Grammy's" for "Paper Trail." And he's a handsome brother too. Nice eye candy.

"Paper Trail" has special guest such as Ludacris, Usher, Rihanna, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake and John Legend. Musically its like Thanksgiving dinner, it has everything to be a huge awarding Grammy CD and will sell on its own while T.I. sits it out in jail.

Did I mention that he's talented and smart?

    Kanye West Charges Dropped

Mr. Kanye West will not be charged with felony incident that happened on September 11, 2008. The Prosecutors of Los Angeles have decided not to file charges against the Superstar Rapper and his manager.

As you may recall the camera men were in Kanye's space at the airport and the brother wasn't having it, so he went off. A camera was broken and the media tried to make more out of it, than it really was.

Most entertainer's don't mind the celebrity but sometimes, I imagine its just too much. And to be honest, we don't need to know their every waken moment. Also for the most part, Kanye is a good guy, its nice that L.A. saw it for what it was.
