How You Doing Ms. Wendy Williams?

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

The phase that Ms. Williams has been known to say to her guest, on her urban jock shock radio (WBLS 107.5FM) and television shows is "How you doing?". Her radio show is a huge money maker for "Inner City Broadcasting", based in New York City.

Wendy Williams

You may recall that on all of the night time magazine shows, such as Entertainment Tonight", Ms. Williams recorded her conversation with Diva, Ms. Whitney Houston, who was ready to meet the shock vixen, to deliver some real "New Jersey" kick ass.

It appears that Ms. Williams has made a career on trying to "out" in the closet R&B and rap stars. She's even questioned John Legend about his sexuality. Mr. Legend was professional enough to not explain or answer. Now the camera and the microphone is pointed in her face, as her former assistant, Nicole Spence, claims that Wendy's husband, demanded sex from her, on more than 12 times and was also known to create a hostile work environment and also beat up his "loud month" wife, Ms. Williams.

Mr. Hunter, Wendy's hubby, according to Ms. Spence, told the assistant that he wanted to f*ck her, but when he was questioned claimed that the allegations are "so far from the truth. It's insane." Wendy was quoted, per the New York Post, "Her allegations are totally false. This bitch is out of her mind". I wonder if Nicole Spence can sue for being called a bitch?

Nicole also claims to have witnessed Mr. Hunter physically assaulting, choking his wife. I wonder how Ms. Williams feels now, having to read half truths and half lies, in her morning newspaper? Perhaps Ms. Williams, age 43, would prefer to look the other way, when it comes to her husband/manager, age 33. Ms. Spence filed her complaint against "Inner City" and Ms. Williams.

Lets tune in tomorrow to WBLS, to get the down low, low down.

Cherno Jobatey - Germany's "Oprah"

Cherno Jobatey - "Germany’s most entertaining alarm clock", as recently described in the conservative newspaper FAZ (04/05/06).

Cherno Jobatey has "shaped ZDF- Morning News with his irrepressible zest" as states Germany's people magazine BUNTE (24/06). "His winning smile has long been part of the show", cheers Cologne Paper „Express". "No one is quite as entertaining" adds Germany's tv guide Hoer Zu (No 45/05).

But his easy going sense of humour early in the morning is not liked by everybody. It just so happened that the German Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection simply didn't know an appropriate answer to a question that was put with the winning smile and very affable manner of his host, the "news junkie" (Welt) Cherno Jobatey. It was a question about Germany's recent food scandal when rotten meat was sold in parts of the country. Minister Seehofer just couldn’t explain the reasoning behing his ministry's guidelines and regulations.

Cherno Jobatey is the „TV-Darling”! states Europe’s biggest tabloid Bild (09/09/07) He explains world event at dawn on the small screen in Germany's No. One morning news show "ZDF-Morgenmagazin". The show is broadcasted live directly from Berlin’s political heart, close to Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. Because that’s where the political action is.

Life Story

Pony tail, sneakers and a winning smile: that can only be Cherno Jobatey.

He has become a brand name on television, convincingly matching form and content.

First and foremost, Cherno is an expert in news and current affairs.

But he also knows how to present entertainment shows, is a secure interviewer on any topic and always knows how to get that feel-good mood across.

Baywatch star reveals he's gay

Come out ... Jaason Simmons (centre bottom row), with his Baywatch co-stars
.

The man at the centre of many adolescent fantasies, former Baywatch hunk Jaason Simmons (no, that’s not a spelling mistake) has today come out of closet and publicly declared that his is gay.

The Tasmanian-born actor, who played Australian lifeguard Logan Fowler on Baywatch for three years in the mid 1990s [pictured front centre in the top photo], has ended years of speculation in the hope of raising awareness of African adoption.

Simmons has appeared in Australian New Idea magazine with his boyfriend of eight months, Irish actor John O’Callaghan, and his adopted six year-old Ugandon son saying that they want to get married. The couple plan to wed in Canada as same-sex unions are not legally recognized in California where they both live.

Jaason, who first married a woman at 20, hit the big time at 24 with his regular role on Baywatch, alongside Pamela Anderson, David Hasslehoff and Yasmine Bleeth. Among Simmons’ first confidantes in revealing his sexuality was his Baywatch co-star Alexandra Paul, whose twin sister is gay, and to whom he was romantically linked.

Simmons, Irish actor John O’Callaghan, and his adopted six year-old Ugandon son

After quitting the show and spending some time in a Buddhist monastery in Wales, doing theatre in London and acting in several independent films, fellow actor O’Callaghan proposed to Simmons a few months after they met. “People said ‘Isn’t it too quick?” says Jaason in New Idea magazine, “But it’s different when you’re 37 and you’ve gone through the mill and been kicked around and learnt stuff. If you both want the same thing and are on the same journey, and you’re together until you pass, what’s too fast? If you know, you know.”

When asked why they want to get married, Jaason says: “We’re doing it for our family and for my soon-to-be son. Although you don’t want to typecast yourself, you have to take responsibility and ownership and move humanity forward, out of bigotry. Our son needs to see we can stand in front of family and loved ones who are going to support our union through the good times and bad.”

Oh the irony that the man who has appeared on the cover of Playgirl Magazine  and set many female hearts aflutter actually bats for our team. Now all we need is for fellow Baywatcher David Charvet to come out and we can die happy.

"Christopher Street", the series

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

The most exciting news for all of Noah's Arc fan's is that a new series called "Christopher Street" will be coming your way!!

New York City's West Village will be the focus point where four college age friends come together. Something like "Noah's Arc" , "Girlfriends" or Beverly Hills 90210, during their teen and young adult years. The main character is Christopher Dwayne Street, who has dropped out of college and moves from a small town to the Big Apple, where he forms friendships with Jeremy, Ashton and Sean.

Christopher Street Cast

When I spoke with Dwight Allen O'Neal, the Executive Producer/Creator, he informed me that "Christopher Street", promises to educate and well as entertain. The series will deal with everyday issues that young, coming of age, gay youth face. We will be able to share in the laughter and mishaps of life when we are introduced to the characters.

Dwight also explained that some of the fixed points is to teach one how to have "self-love", "how to deal with relationships." Even how to shower and clean one's self before a sexual encounter. From the stories I've heard, some of the "children" should set their DVRs for this episode, there's nothing pretty while making love, during penetration you hear "I love you", all of sudden there's an odor, and its coming from the person that you are making love to. And you think, "Oh, sh*t", then realize that it is. I'm sure some of the situations will be funny, while others will be serious, and hopefully cause conversation.

Producer - Creator, Dwight O'Neal

Other issues addressed will be harassment by those who are homophobic, HIV/AIDs, the down low men, drug abuse, sex parties etc. You will be looking into the window of a life-style that has so many shades of black, white and grey. "Christopher Street" will allow those who are confused about the gay life style, to understand that gay people worry and have the same concerns and issues as some one who is hetersexual. It doesn't matter if you are Lesbian, Transgender, Bisexual, black or white, gay or straight, this series promises that you will be able to relate to the characters since New York City is a melting pot of cultures. One may remind you of a cousin, an uncle, an aunt, your brother, your sister or even yourself.

Enough all ready!!!

Bravo has another reality show that will premiere on Thursday, April 3, at 10:00 ET/PT. To sweeten the pie, its been announced that four of the contestants will be gay. And get ready, the names are Michael, Oscar, Miguel and James. I know some of you out there are getting moist already. Some of the dance styles will be hip hop, burlesque and Latin, and the grand prize is $100,000.00

Each week the contestant will audition for a different type of dance style. Like one week will be for a music video, another for whatever, but you get the point.

Elizabeth Berkley will host, remember the bomb, "Showgirls" and the kiddy show, "Saved by the Bell." Nominee and Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde", "Hairspray") will act as the competitions' mentor. And of course, there's a judge panel who are, Nancy O'Meara of "High School Musical Tour" and Vincent Paterson of Madonna's "Blond Ambition" & Michael Jackson "Bad" Tours. I would imagine its like a dream come true for the 12 contestants. I'm not going to list the names, if he or she wins, you will know soon enough.

Not another Odd Couple, please!

It's come to my attention that we may soon have another, half hour, gay flavored prime time show on the air. The creators of Will and Grace have been given the red light for a pilot, still untitled, about two roommates, best friends since high school, one gay and one straight, both are writers. The network, ABC, has requested this order.

Which high school? Beverly Hills High School.

Is one friend black and the other white? I don't know but I doubt it.

No, not the Odd Couple, please keep up. The best friends are business partners and at home, however, the friendships are tested when the both of them get involved in serious relationships. No, not with each other but with significant others at the same time.

I really don't see the problem, if the relationships are all that serious, one buddy moves out and the other keeps the apartment or they both move out, and what's the big deal?

I would have loved to see that characters that Damon Waynes and David Alan Grier created on "In Living Color" come to life, but I'm sure that boat has sailed.

Prince Among Slaves

The PBS documentary explores the life of an African royal who was enslaved for decades.

By Mary McNamara

The horror of the African slave trade, particularly the experience of African American slaves, has been documented by so many historians, novelists, playwrights and poets that it is tempting to view the PBS documentary "Prince Among Slaves" as just another way to celebrate Black History Month. This would be a grave mistake.

Not only is the story of Abdul-Rahman Ibrahim ibn Sori, a well-educated African prince who was captured and sold into slavery, a fascinating study of a man who became, at the end of his life, a cause célèbre, but it also illuminates the terrible democracy of slavery: To European slave traders and American slave holders, all black Africans were created equal -- without status, rights or humanity.

Just before his capture, Abdul-Rahman was a 26-year-old Muslim Fulbe prince, married with a son, who had recently taken command of his father's army. Returning from battle, he and a group of soldiers were ambushed, captured and sold to slave traders for muskets, whiskey and eight twists of tobacco. Eight terrible months later, he was set down with other chattel on the docks of the Natchez district of Mississippi. Purchased by a small-time planter named Thomas Foster, Abdul-Rahman tried to explain who he was; Foster laughed at the idea of African royalty and promptly named his new slave Prince.

Omar - "The Wire"

Okay, we’re back from the holidays. I know what you’re thinking: “It’s been weeks! Weeks!” We know. It’s been a really, really long disco nap.

We’ve actually been covering presidential politics like mad. So, it should come as no surprise that our first post out of the gate is about both gays and politics.

Sen. Barack Obama was recently asked about his favorite TV show, The Wire. Here’s the interesting exchange, thanks to Slog.

Obama: I gotta say Omar’s a great character. That’s not an endorsement.

Coolican: (Laughing.) Uh oh, you’re making national news here.

Obama: Exactly. That is not an endorsement. He is not my favorite person. But he’s a fascinating character.

Coolican: And there’s a real life story behind it, too.

Obama: He’s this gay gangster who only robs drug dealers, and then gives back. You know, he’s sort of a Robin Hood. And he’s the toughest, baddest guy on this show, but he’s gay, you know. And it’s really interesting. It’s a fascinating character.

Why I never dated a Black man

England's Oprah lays it on the line

By Janelle Oswald

“It’s not that I’m not attracted to black men,” says TV host Trisha Goddard ,“but I have never dated a black man before because they were not apart of my social circle.”

The Channel Five queen of daytime talk television who has just been made 08 Ambassador for Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture, says that she has never experienced a relationship with a “person of colour” because she never knew any growing up. “ In my hometown it was just me, my sisters and my mum. There were no more black people, it was just us.”

In an open and frank discussion, the mother of two teenage girls comes clean and explains that her mother’s attitude towards black men was very negative, which had a profound effect on her.

Born in Hackney, east London in 1957, to a white English father and black Dominican mother, who were both psychiatric nurses, Goddard was the eldest (and “ugliest, and darkest-skinned”, she says) of four sisters.

She grew up mainly in Virginia Water, Surrey, where there were no other black people. But she remembers on a school holiday once seeing a black air stewardess in uniform, and being very startled, “ I had a stereotypical view of black people apart from me – I used to think that they threw stones and lived in huts.”

Oprah Winfrey Leaves Boyfriend Out Of Will

By Anne Lu

Oprah Winfrey had written her will and left her long-time boyfriend out of it. The richest African-American of the 20th century reportedly left nothing to chance and asked that her estimated $2 billion fortune be divided among her charities, dogs, and yet-to-be adopted children, leaving nothing for boyfriend Stedman Graham.

According to National Enquirer, the queen of talk fears her wealth would be squandered once she dies so she has prepared her will. Graham, her partner for over 20 years, apparently would not be getting a cent.

The multi-Emmy Award winning host also plans to adopt three daughters and Graham, again, would not be included in the process.

"It's something she has always wanted to do," a source says. "There's no talk of her adopting the children with Stedman - this is something she's going to do by herself."

Graham earns his living as an author, businessman, and a motivational speaker. Winfrey is the host of The Oprah Winfrey Show since its first run in 1986. She had announced in 2007 she will not renew the show's contract and will retire in 2011.

NBC Unaware of Gladiator's Gay Porn Past

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- The producers of NBC's new show "American Gladiators" say they had no idea that Alex Castro, the warrior going under the alias "Militia" on the show, was once a gay porn star.

"We were aware that the guy had a good physique and did some modeling and stuff like that," a show source told New York Post.

"We were certainly unaware to the extent that he apparently exposed his body. It is an internal matter now and something we will be in discussions with the network about."

Photos and videos from Castro's porn past have turned up on gay porn sites after Colt Studios went out and congratulated their former star about his new gigs.

The first season of "American Gladiators" has already been filmed and scenes with Castro will not be edited out.

On Jan. 6 (8 pm), "Militia" will join other beefy brawlers going by the names "Crush," "Hellga," "Venom," "Stealth," "Fury," "Titan" and "Justice," all trying to foil contestants vying for a $100,000 prize in various events including Pyramid, Gauntlet and Joust.

Gay Tory to star in TV comedy

By Tony Grew

A former Big Brother contestant who was once a Conservative parliamentary candidate may star in a remake of a controversial 1970s television programme.

Derek Laud, who also worked as a speechwriter for several leading Tories and as a lobbyist at Westminster, is an unusual figure in the party, a black, camp and openly gay man.

He was a contestant in the sixth series of reality show Big Brother, which was eventually won by Anthony Hutton.

Regeneration and Renewal magazine reports that Laud will be starring in a remake of ITV comedy Love Thy Neighbour.

The show featured a black couple who move in next door to a white racist man and his long-suffering wife.

It dealt with race relations in a way that has come to be regarded as so offensive that it has never been shown again.

The show (Rockdogs is the working title) will follow the 12 gay ballers as they share a roof and work toward getting the team back into shape for a big competition. Considering the show is about gay athletes and also that the team is primarily composed of African-American players, Rockdogs looks to be a much-needed shot in the arm for diversity in gay television.

The show will premiere next summer.

Fired Soap Star Marcus Patrick Strips at Gay Bar

Days of Our Lives actor Marcus Patrick, who was fired from the daytime NBC drama recently, brought the good stuff and shaked it for the gays at West Hollywood club Micky's.

Soap star Marcus Patrick was recently fired from his role as Jett Carver on the popular daytime drama Days of Our Lives and rumors has it the decision to ax the star came after he posed nude for the September issue of softcore magazine Playgirl. He also joined All My Children as Jamal Cudahy in June 2006, but asked to be released just three months later.

Producers on Days insist the decision was made to fire the character long before Marcus' nude photos hit the newsstand, but some insiders claim NBC executives were less than happy with Patrick showing his stuff in the magazine.

Something tells us the exec's wouldn't have been to happy to see Patrick in these photos either...

Sacramento native, Jesse Lewis may have gotten the boot on America's Most Smartest Model but all the criticism and flak he's received particularly from host and judge, Mary Alice Stephenson, hasn't eroded his belief in his self-worth. By the fourth episode, Jesse was out after constantly hearing Stephenson give him grief for his fuller figure.

Lewis appears unperturbed and undeterred by his elimination and Stephenson's criticisms, as evidenced by his statements in VH1's blog interview with him, which was posted last week.

“I knew that my body wasn't in the best of shape,” Lewis told VH1. “When I saw the other guys, I knew there was going to be an issue. But at the same time, a lot of the guys weren't 6′ tall. A lot of the girls' bodies were also unacceptable. I didn't think my stomach would be different than anyone else's flaws. I figured we've been judged accordingly, but we weren't.”

Odidi Mfenyana plays Detective Ntando Mqomboti, an openly gay black detective in the lead role of SABC1's crime drama Interrogation Room. Try getting that pilot greenlit 20 years ago…

"It's been challenging," Mfenyana laughs. "It's a great opportunity for me to play an up-and-coming black character who's very professional. It's rare to find a gay character who isn't comic relief. I'm sure he'll be a role model for both gay and straight people."

Mfenyana auditioned for the role in November of last year. After assorted yes's and no's, he was deemed perfect for the role.

"My character is young, loves being a cop but has a bit of a chip on his shoulder," he explains. "At least he has nice shoes and a great wardrobe. And playing with guns is lots of fun."

Los Angeles, October 30, 2007 —To mark the beginning of the 2007-08
professional basketball season, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today premiered a 20-second public service announcement (PSA) featuring retired NBA player John Amaechi. This is the fifth installment of GLAAD's new public education campaign that encourages viewers to "Be an Ally & a Friend."

Amaechi made history in February 2007 when he became the first former NBA  player to come out publicly. Over a six-year period, Amaechi played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz. In his New York Times bestselling autobiography, Man in the Middle, he describes his journey from being an overweight kid in England to a revered Penn State Basketball player to his years playing professional basketball—all while discovering his sexuality and being a closeted gay man.

"John has experienced firsthand how homophobia in the sports world can prevent athletes from living their lives honestly and openly," says GLAAD Director of Sports Media Ted Rybka. "John’s message has the power to awaken people to the realities of what it’s like to be a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender athlete."
