Transgender Sistah Seeks Her Place in Hip Hop World

Foxxjazell remembers being a six-year-old child who would lock herself up in her bedroom and pretend to be performing before millions of screaming fans. Today, as an African-American transgender woman, this striking beauty is on the verge of making her childhood dreams come true. But it certainly hasn't been easy for the Birmingham-born entertainer, who refuses to let folks brush her off simply because of her gender.

Australia and New Zealand axe Beenie Man concerts

Concerts featuring homophobic Jamaican reggae artist Beenie Man have been cancelled at all the venues in Australia and New Zealand. The cancellations resulted from protests by gay rights groups, including the Australian Coalition for Equality and representations by OutRage! on behalf of the international Stop Murder Music campaign, to the tour organizers.

The Expanding World of Gay Hip Hop

Alex Hinton, 37, is not the typical video director. According to his own admission, he has always felt like an outsider, first during his early days growing up on the outskirts of Chicago, surviving the sweltering heat of South Carolina during his formative years and then hightailing it to Los Angeles in 1992 with dreams of becoming a movie director.

Soulja Boy charged with obstruction of justice

Rapper Soulja Boy is facing a charge of obstruction of justice after fleeing the set of his new music video when police arrived.  The Crank That (Soulja Boy) hitmaker was shooting the video at a Georgia house on Wednesday with a cast and crew of 40 people - including fans he had invited to take part - when local authorities arrived at the scene to investigate complaints from residents.

CHRIS BROWN IN DENIAL CLAIMS RIHANNA'S DAD

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

"Not guilty", so said Chris Brown at the hearing for the alleged beating on his girlfriend or former girlfriend, Rihanna. Her dad, Mr. Fenty, was not pleased. "I don't want his career to be damaged -- it's damaged already. I think he's a talented guy, but everybody should have to pay. When you do the crime, you do the time. I don't want to see him locked up for a long time -- I just want him to acknowledge and get some help," Mr. Fenty was quoted as saying after Mr. Brown's plead.

On the Tyra Banks show this coming Monday, April 13th, the talk show host discussed the Chris Brown/Rihanna case, where the young girls in the audience feel that Rihanna is the guilty one and it was split 50/50.
Mr. Fenty wants Chris to know that he's not getting away with it. Our society, without letting the facts come to life, still believe that a man should not hit a woman but many, it appears really could care less if a woman hit's a man. Again, I believe that no one should be allowed to hit and if Rihanna hit Chris first, then she is as guilty as he is, if its found this is the case.

Now I may get letters cursing me out but whatever, no one should be allowed to hit, regardless of the sex, gender or race.

P. Diddy And The Brown Paper Bag Test

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

A casting call was sent out as Mr. P. Diddy will be shooting a new commercial for his vodka. The troubling thing about this shooting is that Mr. Diddy, has informed his staff who are doing the search, orders are that the female must pass the "paper bag test". If other words, if you are darken than a brown paper bag, don't apply.

Yep, you read right, if you (ladies) are darken than a brown paper bag, keep on walking, you are not the right look for his vodka commercial.

I would hate to think that the Mr. Diddy has self-hatred against his darker than a brown paper bag skin color. Hopefully this is just a silly "chit chat " rumor. Stay tuned.

New Rap Group, GS Boyz & "Stanky Legg"

By Sr. Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

One thing, among many, that can be said about rapper, Soulja Boy, is that he's originally. Now we have a new rap group called "GS Boyz", who are trying to ride on the coattails of Soulja Boy.

The group have created a new dance, which isn't really all that new or unique. Soulja Boy showed us how to do the "Superman", whereas GS Boyz' dance isn't a hard dance to learn since you are stepping back and forth, shaking the booty, doing some "jumping jacks" then you're wiggling down to the floor and this is the "Stanky Legg."

The music isn't all that either. Computerized music, baggy clothes (according to the fashion magazines, the baggy look is so last year's look), fireworks and words, "Stanky Legg" roll across the screen in bright block letters in the video. Cheap but it will probably make a lot of money.

Will it sell? Probably since some of today's youth are more into the beats of a song, than the talent. On their my space page, profile views are 685727 and counting. I'm sure I've stepped on a toe or two.

Interested anyway? Check them out, you will be able to hear them sing too: MySpace/GSBoyz

INTRODUCING RECORDING ARTIST, "THE DREAM"

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

I was doing some research on another artist and fell into this new, exciting, talented recording artist, called "The Dream". Vocally the brother can sing! The lyrics and the music are current with a touch of yesterday, yet pressing on into the future. On the CD of 14 original songs, Mariah Carey is featured on "My Love" and Kanye West on my personal favorite, "Walkin On The Moon", however every song promises to be #1 (not that I like every song but) and I can see next year's Grammy's will definitely find its way to "The Dream".

Refreshing is that this artist is able to express himself without the cussing, and calling our women of color the "B" word. By the way, "The Dream", his born name is Terius Youngdell Nash and he's a Grammy Award winner-singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur and music executive.

"The Dream" was born in Rockingham, North Carolina and moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of two. Sadly his mother passed away at the young age of 35 and he was raised by his grandfather in the Bankhead section of Atlanta, GA. His granddad's appreciation for soul music educated a very young Terius.

What I found interesting and impressed me about "The Dream" is that he also plays trumpet, drums and guitar. According to his bio: Musical influences are Prince, Miss Elliott, Tupac Shakur and Aaliyah. Now get this, he's also an accomplished artist who has created paintings, sculptures, his work has been shown in art galleries throughout Atlanta.

Artists and Producers "The Dream" has or is working with:

Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Sting, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Usher, Nicole (PCD), Karina Pasian, Nivea, Lucy Walsh, Brit & Alex, Bayje, Timberland, Tricky, Stewart, Don Vito, Jazzy Pha

"The Dream" also had an issue with the now famous Chris Brown (and Rihanna) But you can google that if you are interested. In the meantime, if you are in the mood to listen to a brother who has real talent, check out "The Dream" at: The Dream Team

FEND BETWEEN BOW WOW & SOULJA BOY?

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

The all grown up and handsome, with movie stars looks, rapper Bow Wow apologized to his fans and to Soulja Boy. The fend started when Soulja Boy, on YouTube, questioned Bow Wow's "street credit".

Fortunately the two young rappers realized that the fend was senseless and immature. When Bow Wow, appeared on BET's 106 & Park, he again, apologized to his fans as he said, the argument was a friendly challenge that got out of control.

Bow Wow continued, "For us to even do that for the kids and for the people that look up to us, it was just really out of my character and out of his character for us to just display that ignorance like that. I've been put on this earth to entertain my people; to make them scream and holler and not display BS (bulls**t). That's my homie. He's getting money with me, so for that I can't knock him."
It's interesting that only a few months ago, both Bow Wow and Soulja Boy had and have many wondering if the two are bi-sexual, gay or metro-sexual.
Also there's the porn photo that's suppose to be Soulja Boy, where it appears that he's receiving oral services from someone of the same sex. Some of the gay fans are excited about the possibility of Soulja Boy being gay or bi, while others, "straight", are disturbed and in an uproar that we would even print such a story. Bow Wow carrying the man-purse have many readers upset about this, as his sexuality was questioned.

But when you become a celebrity, the rumors start, even the artist management company of the artist may put out a rumor. Speculation and mystery are some of the tricks to packaging a superstar. Also the rules about sexuality and drugs are different for an entertainer as well. Sexual acts, depending on the encounter, are sometimes described "freaky", breaking all the rules.

Now we have Bow Wow and Soulja Boy making up and being nice. Both are sexy, handsome, successful and respected. What's the real story behind this feud? Does anyone know?

Auto-Tune and Rappers, T. Pain, Kanye West & Lil Wayne

By Entertainment Correspondent, John Frazier

I just happen to be in my brother-in-law's, Shawn's red truck listening to the radio, waiting as he ran into one of the department stores to make a purchase. As I continued to listen to the radio, Faheem Rasheed Najm, better known as T-Pain's music was played. Now before his fans attack me, I'm aware of his music and I know that he's a successful rapper, songwriter, producer and extremely respected in the music industry. But can he really sings?

Later that evening, on MTV-2. The "Storyteller Series", focused the show on Kanye West. Again this brother is well respected and has shown another side to Hip Hop and Rap music. He has shown the world that "hip-hop" is more than gangsters, thugs, cursing, bitches and whores. As I sat, listened and watched, it just confirmed what I thought all along, that with good business sense, some talent, a look, the public can be sold anything, we are purchasing music with lyrics, great music beats, rapping and pretend singers.

Mr. West as well as Mr. Pain are partners with the "Auto-Tune". Case and point, when Kanye performed on "Saturday Night" live, there was something wrong with his "Auto Tune" and the brother had to sing. It wasn't a very nice sound. Without the Auto-Tune" you discovered the true voice. Simon on "American Idol" would claim that it's the worse sound he has every heard.

Yeah, I know they both have won "Grammy's" for "Good Life", however, sound and appreciation to and what's considered music has changed. Yet, without the "Auto-Tune", Mr. Pain would cause pain vocally and Kanye West has already proven that he can rap but as a singer, nah, I think so. And no, I haven't forgotten Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, who topped Billboard and broke all kind of records, but is it talent, timing, promotion or the "Auto-Tune?" A lot of performers are using this equipment, which guarantees an almost perfect pitch performance. Cher used this equipment on the "Believe" recording.

I think that the "Auto-Tune" inventor should win a few Grammys too.

Are you feeling me? Do you disagree? Express yourself, let your voice be heard, let me know.
